This might be a new record in the tardiness of the monthly blog entry. The same excuses and the same apologies, but here she is our 34 month old Yaya. In less than two months (from today) she will be three! Unbelievable, right? ;-)

I'm a traveling Yaya!

We had more rain in May. Seriously - we had rain almost every day in April and the first half of May, and that's no joke. Certainly we did not have two consecutive days of sun during this stretch. On the plus side, the lawn looks lovely! But we all got cabin fever. The weather finally broke in mid-May and we finally got some nice sunny weather.

Nothing new to report on the food end - still a moratorium on most foods. Same with potty training - no advances. Hopefully as the summer progresses we can have her run around outside sans pants and try to have her go in the potty chair. If the house wasn't so very carpeted we would do it indoors but there you go.

Her drawing skills are coming along - she can draw basic faces (on purpose!). She attempts to draw letters (very good at Os, Cs and Us seem to be OK). She knows her left from her right, and always speaks in full sentences. We do a lot of play-acting in the house where sometimes she and I are "two orange cats" and we meow and nuzzle at each other, and for some very odd reason when we are cats Vin is a Papa Cow? Not a cat like us? No idea why the discrepancy, but Vin has to moo and be a cow. She also likes to play trains - where we all hold hands (sometimes including Purrsley and other toys that have hands) and walk around chugging and choo-chooing.  It's always a fun time with her around. And always pot-pet-pot-pet (slang for "chatty"). She has lots of opinions. She dictates what games to play and when, and if we play pretend, she decides what we are to be and what lines we have (seriously she will assign us lines). She does get flustered if you say the line wrong too which of course makes it funny as heck to flub our lines on purpose! :-) We do have a lot of playtime with her - even me and even when i'm working hard all day and can only play with her in the evenings.

She turned 34 months old on a beautiful Sunday. Papa got to finally go and play baseball after having so many rain-outs. And after that, we had a long drive - to Pennsylvania for work (driving to New Jersey the next day). Here's how the day went for the birthday girl. She woke up and went down with Papa to give Mama a few extra minutes of shut-eye.

Then we say goodbye and have fun to Papa, and Yaya and Mama hang out the rest of the morning. First order of business, breakfast.

Yaya opens her banana
Milk, please

Building is fun!
Climb the "chair-stool"

After Mama made herself some noodles and had a snack, we had whiled the morning away. It was warm enough to go outside to play.

We're outside!
Papa's home!

Notice Papa's new baseball uniform - new team this year, the Bats.

Let's play with the watering can

This watering can is heavy
Let's make a muddy puddle

Yaya and Papa jump around in her "muddy puddles" a la Peppa Pig. Of course this means she's watering herself.

Ooops! I think my shirt and shoes are wet now

After the girl gets soaking wet, we convince her it's time to go back indoors. Outfit change, and suitcases packed in the car. We're almost ready to set off.

Minute 8 in the car

Ha! Asleep before we even got to the highway. She naps until we stop for a late lunch (Red Lobster in Zanesville, OH).

Walking into the restaurant
Hmm where's the crayons?
Fries for lunch

I know. Healthy? No. But at least it's not toast. Then it's back to the car.

Wonder Pets, Mama!

Mama, let's go to the hotel!
Outfit change - time for jammies as it gets dark
In the nick of time!

She did wake up when I transferred her from the car seat to the crib in the hotel room but it wasn't too bad. She fell back to sleep in about 10 minutes. Long drive - but we made it and I made my meeting the next morning as well. Another good month, and incredibly fun to have the girl around. Happy birthday, baby! We love you! See y'alls later!
