37 Months
Hey everyone! So the girl is 37 months old today. We had her 3-year checkup this morning and she was 40 1/4 inches tall (102.2 cm) and 38 lbs (17.2 kg), and at the 99th percentile for both height and weight. Her speech and vocabulary now seems advanced for her age (what a change from last year's checkup and the not talking at all business!). She counted to 25 for the doctor (skipping 16 which is the norm for her), and correctly identified the stethoscope used, and what it was for. She liked opening her mouth and saying "aaah" and letting the doctor shine a flashlight in her ear. She didn't mind the sphygmomanometer that took her blood pressure and "hugged" her arm. She didn't even cry when she was given one jab, and was very pleased with the tweety bird bandage that she got for it. Everything is going well, Alhamdulillah!

As mentioned in the 36 month post, this will be a much truncated entry, marking the day of her birth and a few comments on what's happened in the past month. Food status: no change. Potty training - exciting news! Based on an IM with Lorna last Friday, on Saturday (Aug 20) I told Yaya if she pee-peed in the potty I would take her out to play bubbles. And it worked! She did pee in the potty! And yesterday she only put a diaper on for her nap, and for bedtime. She was diaper-free and using the potty the rest of the time. Same for today. Although she did have an accident today, while playing balloons with Papa. 
But this is a huge development! We even have Wonder Pets underwear for her to wear. Woohooooo! So the new count for potty training is, Yaya = 5500, Mama & Papa = 11. OK it might still be very skewed but we are very encouraged by this new development. Hopefully she'll be diaper-free before long! (At least during the day)
She seems to be OK with the news of her Adik and will kiss and hug my belly sometimes, which of course warms our hearts. Off to the bookstore soon for some introduction to big sisterhood books for the girl.
One of the funny things that she's said lately is when looking at the clock (non-digital), she sounded the numbers from 1-12 and then said, Mama, where's 13? And she did not believe my answer that clocks only go up to 12. Also she's been telling us of a recurring dream (nightmare?) that she's been having - of an armadillo chasing the three of us downstairs. She doesn't seem afraid of the armadillo, but it does come up when we talk to her in the morning so maybe it's just an active dream?
