Halloween Shenanigans

All Hallow's Eve, an event that was eagerly awaited in the Renstrom household - at least by one little girl in particular. And this year, Papa said we could get a pumpkin and carve it (after some begging on the part of the particular little girl).

Happy Halloween!

Let us begin with the process of carving a jack-o-lantern. I confess, I have never actually done this or watched this done (other than on television) so I was quite interested in the proceedings. So here's how it went:

After you cut a hole in the top, you scoop out the insides
Adik wants to help too
Adik inspects the now emptied out pumpkin
A gratuitous smiling baby picture thrown in just for fun
Next, Yaya draws a face on the pumpkin
Adik wants to play with the pumpkin's innards
Here's Yaya's masterpiece
Which was too complicated to execute so Vin had to modify it
Adik had to go in the play pen while Papa plays with sharp knives
Jack-o-lantern in progress
Finishing touches!
Jack-o-lantern all lit up

Halloween night was, appropriately, a dark and stormy one. We get the children ready for Beggar's Night:

Adik does not like to wear his mane even after he saw it in the mirror
Yaya the Bollywood Princess!

The above photo was taken during the Raya-o-Ween party the weekend before. It was so wet and Yaya too excited to wait so she was ready to go and I didn't get a photo of her before we went out and got wet.

Adik wanted the Reese's peanut butter cup even before we went out

Again, unfortunately we did not get a group photo before we went out. It was so rainy and windy that Vin took Adik home halfway through our route, and Yaya and I braved the weather and completed the route. We got home wet and candied up - of course the sad thing is Yaya will not eat any candy. So what did we get soaked for, huh? Here's the post trick or treat gloat:

Yaya has lollipops!
Candy! Candy!
We all love candy
Isolating the only milk chocolate only bar, not that she will actually eat it
Adik is skeptical about the tootsie roll

And that's all folks! Happy Halloween and a Happy Deepavali/Diwali to all! :-)
