28 months old!

Yaya is holding my eaw!

Caveat: this entry (for April) was written in June. Thank goodness for backdated entries! Also, we kind of forgot to take pictures of the boy to document his day any of those days in April. So this month's entry will be a roundup of my favorite pictures taken in the last month.

Speech status: Still advanced. He is expressing ideas in full sentences, and is very obsessed with AC/DC's TNT. I know. So appropriate for a two year old. ;-)

Bedtimes: back to a better schedule of going to bed between 9:30-10 PM with no naps. If he does accidentally get in a nap, the bedtime is definitely pushed back almost two hours, despite it only being a 30-minute nap. So from my point of view (being the one who has to get him to go to sleep), I definitely firmly vote NO on naps. He's adjusting nicely and not at all being a holy terror in the evenings, despite a nap-less afternoon.

Bathtimes: Adik loves showers and playing in the shower with me. He also still loves bathing in his little blue tub and will sometimes consent to going into the big bath to play with bubbles with Yaya (after he's been scrubbed in his baby tub). No more spider-monkey-clinging-hysterically-crying bathtime moments! Whew!

Reading: Well. I can't even list the words that Adik can read. He soaks up all the reading and word apps that we have on the iPad (technically for Yaya, but he's the one absorbing it like a sponge). He loves reading out letters and words and is constantly surprising us with how many words he can read and spell. He will spend time by the laptop with an open Microsoft Word document, typing words and letters. Deleting them, starting over. When we're sitting together to read one of his children's books, he is mostly reading it to us instead of vice versa. When he comes to a word that he does not know, he will say either "What's this word?" or "What spells?" and we tell him and we spell the word together. He continues reading the book. There is a large likelihood that the word that he did not know now becomes known and remembered for the next time. He will pick out words in the books and magazines that Vin and I are reading as well. We just cannot believe it. Every so often, we will ask him to spell a random word. Usually a word that we have never heard him spell before. Often, he knows how to spell that word, but if he doesn't he will say "I don't know" and ask how to spell the word, thus learning it.

The difficult thing now is to keep him motivated and challenged. If he's reading at two - what will we have to do to keep him engaged and challenged when he's four? Wish us luck!

So anyways, let us get to the pictures. As mentioned before, this month's entry contains photos of the boy during the month of April since we weren't together enough to take photos of his day on his month birthday. We will do better next month.

Let's play ball!
Future karaoke fan?
Fun with Yaya
At the mall with Papa waiting for the car to be serviced

We were in Pennsylvania for work for two weeks out of this month and saw a bunch of family in Maryland over the Easter weekend.  Here are the photos from that period

Examining a light fixture at a Mexican restaurant
Barb helps Adik retrieve his dyed egg
Easter egg hunt!
Found an egg!
Like my ducky basket?

Meanwhile, back at the hotel:

I love to brush my teeth!
Let's play basketball! Do I look like King James?
Alphabet stencils! Loving it!
Playing ball in the grassy area by the hotel
Serious on a windy day
Multi-tasking? TV, iPad and tongue sticking out
Good morning world. Give me a moment to wake up
Reading the newspaper. Seriously. He's picking out words and reading them aloud
He looks like he's fishing in the woods with his sister, no?
Noshing on a cookie
Yaya is advising him earnestly about something or other
Love that "yeah, right" expression he's got

Remember when Yaya used to hold my ear all the time? She sometimes holds Adik's ears now and very rarely mine. I sort of miss it. But it's also nice to be able to hold a conversation with another adult without having a child hanging on your ear. Literally.

Let's go back to photos in Ohio "in the blue house, with Lily" as Adik would say. Although there are no photos of Adik with Lily as he has taken to running after her and chasing her around the house. Nobody can blame that kitkat for not wanting to be too near him.

Hi Norna!

So yes, the child built a phone out of building blocks so he could call Lorna. I think he misses her.

With his fairy godsister?
Buckling on his helmet so he can get scootering. Safety first!
Happy Adik!

Happy 28-month birthday, baby boy! We love you!!!
