Allie's 18 Month Birthday
It's true! Allie is 18 months old now! She is one and a half years old! (Well at the time that this was written she is 18 months and 10 days old).It happened on January 22nd, also known as Yong's birthday (Happy belated birthday Yong!).
Sorry for the delay, but here it is finally, how Allie spent her half-birthday.
Allie is all better now, no more strep throat, no health issues there. She's eating well, and enjoying all kinds of different foods. She's even back to liking bananas (after months of refusal). She has a grand total of four teeth and puts them to good use - her blue cup has been nibbled on quite a bit. She also went through a phase where she spilled everything she was drinking. I think she was just getting used to her new teeth. She's getting better at the drinking and not dribbling quite so much now.
She dances to motown and the Jackson Five, and seems to be fascinated by animals. Her animal noises have expanded to include: cat, dog, cow, owl, monkey, rhino, bear, tiger, donkey, bee, three singing pigs, rabbit (silent chomping, as if on carrots), alligator (the Gator chomp but horizontal - Megs, this should make you happy), lizard (sticks out tongue) etc. She also does non-animals such as car and fire truck. She runs around saying "Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!" and waves. And usually belatedly, she will also wave goodbye and say "Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee". She also can sing the Jeopardy! theme song pretty well, as well as hum the ABC song and really when she feels like it, she will sing along with us regardless of what we're singing. She runs around tormenting Lily the cat with hugs, kisses and pets (Lily is a saint!) and loves to mess up the house. She's like a tornado - leaving a wake of scattered books, toys, papers, crayons, whatever as she moves from station to station in the house! Also, she's been fascinated by drawers at the hotel - she keeps opening and closing them, and putting in and taking out items. She's a hoot!
And this is how Allie spent this momentous year-and-a-half birthday. In the morning, first she greets the Kitkat:
And then she tried to get Mama's attention through the office door:
She had a snack of spring rolls at mid-morning, and proceeded to demonstrate her F-5 power.
And then it was lunch time:
She refused to nap in her crib, and out of desperation we took her out in the car (her customary nap-place in New Jersey with Vin):
And then she was ready for more mischief! Here she is, a cross between Frankenstein and Laura Ingalls Wilder:
In pursuit of Lilyness:
Allie is starting to enjoy some TV (advertisements with animals are a favorite)
But her attention span is still not too impressive (peripatetic is what Vin called her) so off she went to read some books:
Here she is playing extreme peek-a-boo:
She hides in the laundry room and comes shrieking out to get us! She's so funny!
And then it was dinner time!
And then it was bath and bedtime for little girls! It's been a fun month. Allie is the darling of our hotel in New Jersey, and the darling of our hearts. We are definitely enjoying being a part of her life and seeing her change, grow, and learn new things every day. Happy 18-month birthday, baby!!
And to close the entry, here are Vin and Allie, managing to play in the high chair:
