It was Irfan's aunt (or "first cousin once removed" to the rest of the English-speaking world) Cik Ja's engagement ceremony in Ipoh last Saturday. We were in attendance for the mirth which usually accompanies such events. However, I had to pull away from the fun, elbow my way through the crowd to take a picture of Cik Ja and her fiancee Roni.

I also stuck around to take a picture of Cik Ja and her retinue of aunts from our side of the family, including Irfan's Opah.

Irfan wasn't bored at all, since he had lots of junior-sized relatives to play with.

Irfan's Atok took point during the formal greetings between Cik Ja's family and Roni's. We're going to have to figure out a honorific for Cik Ja's future husband for Irfan to address.

Cik Ja and Ain spent some time to stay still for me to take a photo using the ambient lighting instead of the flash, resulting in an awesome photo with dramatic light and shadow.

After the festivities and photo op, Roni took his leave, while Cik Ja was chronically unable to cease posing for photos.

The Cadre of Aunts tried to hold Roni captive for an interrogation session. He still managed to escape though.

After the festivities, when the chairs were all stacked for pick up, Irfan and his gang waited for cars to drive by. They'd count to ten, then called out "BYEEE!!!" and wave to each passing car. Some waved back. It was entertaining.
