32 months old now! Only four months (less than that, given the actual date I'm writing this entry) until the boy is three years old!

As mentioned before, August was a quiet month where I worked from home and finished out a contract. It was a good month in that we got a lot of family togetherness.
Adik continues to develop into a beautiful little reader. He asks us what a word is that he sees (in a book, on TV, on a billboard, on the computer) if he doesn't know it. We help him to read it and he will usually remember it for the next time. He is also showing a lot of interest in the flash cards that Zarin brought for them. So he knows almost all the Arabic letters now, and keeps bringing me the flash cards so he can practise. He also loves the flash cards of parts of the body in Malay and English so he's learning a lot from those flash cards. For some reason, he is not as into the animals flash cards but perhaps he will get into it another time. The plus side to his interest in the Malay flash cards is that Yaya wants to race him when we do parts of the body. So we have fast-paced very raucous quizzes to see who can answer the question of "Mana telinga?" (Where's the ear), and other questions like that. English-wise, Adik can almost fluently read children's books. There aren't very many words in those books that he needs help with. (In fact, as I am writing this entry next to him on the sofa, he is reading the sentences out loud and asking what some of the larger words are.).
Adik also loves to type things on the computer. We leave a Word document open on the laptop in the living room so he can come over and write things. He will request a turn at the computer by saying "I want to spell [insert word here] on the computer".
Adik's speech seems quite advanced as well. He only ever speaks in full sentences, and he is usually grammatically correct. His little speech impediment (pelat sikit) makes his full sentences even more adorable. In his head though, he does not hear a difference in how he speaks (even though he sounds like Ming Ming Duckling), compared to anyone else. The other day I asked him teasingly when he asked to sit on my lap "Do you want to sit on my wap, Adik?". He frowns at me and corrects me. "Not wap. Wap." Which of course made me giggle. He knows how to spell lap too, so you can't fool him there either. He does seem to be hitting his stride in his terrible twos though. There seems to be a lot more defiance and attitude these days. And his default answer to most things is "No". When he tries to convince you he is not able to do what you are asking, he will give the funniest excuses and begin all his sentences with the word "but". For example, he will say "but I'm too young" or "but I'm not too young" depending on the situation at hand.
So before we get to the pictures of how Adik spent his 32-month birthday, here is one photo of Adik that really caught my eye. He convinced Vin to let him play the guitar:
He very much enjoyed it. Let's get to the pictures of how Adik spent his day.
And then Papa and Adik went upstairs to do a bit of playing and cleaning:
He spends some time playing in the green room (Yaya's bedroom, officially, not that she's spent a night there yet):
Then back downstairs. Some TV watching with Yaya:
Some fun with technology:
A few more photos before bedtime:
And then, it is bedtime for little boys (and their sisters and their very tired parents). Happy 32-month birthday, baby boy! We love you!!!
